The Audi SQ5 is already a serious machine — Quattro all-wheel drive, a punchy turbocharged engine, and a design that's sharp without being shouty. But chrome trim? In 2026, it's starting to feel a little dated. The owner of this SQ5 agreed, and brought it into Wrap Nova for a full chrome delete. The transformation was exactly what the car needed.
What is a Chrome Delete?
A chrome delete — or de-chrome — involves covering the chrome trim on a vehicle with high-quality vinyl film. It's a completely reversible process that gives cars a cleaner, more modern look. The most popular choice is gloss or satin black, though any finish can be used to suit the owner's vision.
What We Did
Front Grille De-Chrome
The honeycomb grille surround on the SQ5 has a significant chrome trim border that runs around its full perimeter. We applied precision-cut gloss black vinyl to the entire surround, eliminating the chrome and giving the front end a much sharper, more focused appearance.
Window Surround De-Chrome
The chrome around the windows is one of the most noticeable elements on any car — and one of the quickest wins a de-chrome job can deliver. We wrapped every section of the window surrounds with the same gloss black vinyl, creating a cohesive, blacked-out look.
Rear Diffuser De-Chrome
The rear diffuser trim was the final piece of the puzzle. With matching gloss black vinyl applied, the rear end now ties together cleanly with the front and sides.
The Result
What arrived as a smart but slightly conventional SQ5 left looking like a car that had been optioned from the factory in black pack specification — clean, purposeful, and considerably more striking. The chrome delete is one of the best value upgrades available for any modern Audi, BMW or Mercedes.
