There are few vehicles as culturally loaded as the Land Rover Defender. Redesigned from the ground up for its modern generation, it manages to feel both contemporary and timeless. This particular Defender arrived at Wrap Nova with a clear vision: full satin black wrap with a gloss black arch kit installed. The result speaks for itself.
Why Satin Black?
Satin black is one of the most versatile and enduring finishes available in the wrap world. It's understated enough to work on everything from a family SUV to a luxury saloon, but bold enough to make a genuine statement. On a Defender — a car with a silhouette built for drama — it's a perfect match.
The Arch Kit
Modern Defenders are increasingly being fitted with aftermarket arch kits, and for good reason. They widen the car's stance, give it a more purposeful look, and provide additional protection for the bodywork. We sourced and installed a premium gloss black arch kit on this build, carefully fitted around the existing body panels.
The Wrap Process
With the arch kit installed and the vehicle fully prepared, we moved into the wrap phase. Satin black vinyl requires careful handling — unlike gloss finishes, it shows fingerprints and surface marks more readily during installation, requiring clean gloves and careful positioning at all times.
The Defender's flat panels make it a relatively accessible vehicle to wrap, but the devil is in the details. Door shuts, handles, the roof seams, and the tailgate all require careful attention to ensure consistency throughout.
The Finished Defender
The completed vehicle is exactly what the owner envisioned — a clean, aggressive Defender that looks like it could have come straight from the factory in a premium black edition specification. The gloss black arches contrast perfectly against the satin body finish.
